Data provided by the user on a voluntary basis

To access certain services made available on the Site, you must register and enter certain personal data.

Users may provide personal data by sending explicit and voluntary requests through the functions available on the Site (filling in online forms, contact requests, etc.).

Specific information can be found on the pages of the Site designed for particular services on demand.

In general, personal data collected through the Site are used to:

  • Deliver the service being requested (e.g. requests for contacts and information, navigation through the Site, etc.), providing information, updates and useful advice to the users on the products and initiatives of the Data Controller;
  • Process statistical data regarding Site performance.

The processing of personal data will be carried out on the basis of one or more of the following conditions. In particular, processing will be carried out for the purposes described above concerning:

  • point 1) – its legal basis lies in the need to follow up with the User’s express requests to receive a service directly available through the Site. Therefore, it implies providing data strictly necessary for and related to the need to respond to a User’s specific request; as such, the data collected from time to time are required and failure to provide them will result in the inability to deliver the service or respond to the request. This also includes navigation through the Site as well as free access to the pages of the Site itself;
  • point 2) – In this case data are collected through the use of technical cookies as described in the section covering the use of cookies in this policy and for which your express consent is not required.

If your consent is required for specific processing of personal data carried out by the Site, then the consent may be withdrawn at any time and your data will no longer be processed as of the date of any such withdrawal.  If the User is under 16 years of age, the processing of data for these purposes will require an authorisation to be provided by the holder of parental responsibility.

Where the Data Controller relies on another legal basis (legitimate interest, public interest…), then an appropriate and specific policy statement will be provided.

All data will be processed mainly in electronic format. Personal data and any other information that may be associated, directly or indirectly, with a specific User, are collected and processed by applying such technical and organisational security measures as to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk, taking into account the state of the art and the costs of implementation or, where appropriate, specific statutory security measures.

In using the functions of this Site and with reference to personal data protection matters — and further in accordance with Article 33 of the GDPR — the Users are encouraged to report to the Data Controller any circumstances or events that may result in a potential “data breach” so as to allow the Data Controller to assess the event and take action, if appropriate, to minimise its effects, by sending an email to

It should be noted that personal data breach means “a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed”.

The measures adopted by the Data Controller do not relieve the User from paying the necessary attention to the use, where required, of passwords/PINs of adequate complexity, which the User must from time to time change and store carefully and make inaccessible to others in order to avoid improper and unauthorised use.

The personal data processed will be retained for a period of time not exceeding the fulfillment of the purposes for which they are processed, except for the need to retain them for a longer period of time following requests from the relevant Authorities for the prevention and prosecution of crimes or, however, to establish or defend a legal claim.

Personal data will be processed by personnel specifically authorised by the Data Controller as well as by third parties, even if established in countries outside the European Union, only when this is necessary to operate and maintain the Site and the services made available through the Site, without prejudice to any obligations required by law.

The data will not be disclosed in any way and, as a rule, will not be exported to third countries outside the EU.

In accordance with the GDPR, the Data Controller is required to appoint as data processors the third-party companies that carry out all or part of the activities in question exclusively on behalf of the Data Controller.

Where reliance is made on third parties established in countries outside the European Union, appropriate safeguards will be adopted for the related transfer of data abroad, corresponding to the standard contractual clauses defined by the European Authority or the national Supervisory Authority and the adequacy decisions issued by the European Commission and/or the national Supervisory Authority for the protection of personal data applicable from time to time. Alternatively, the exceptions under the GDPR may be applied, again to the extent as applicable from time to time to the specific case.

Further information regarding the cases of possible transfers of data to countries outside the European Union and the related guarantees adopted, as well as information regarding the companies appointed as data processors, can be requested from the DPO.

In relation to the processing of personal data carried out through the Site, the User may, at any time in his/her capacity as data subject, exercise the rights set out in the the GDPR. In particular, the User may:

  • Access his/her personal data, obtaining evidence of the purposes pursued by the Data Controller, the categories of data involved, the recipients to whom they may be disclosed, the applicable retention period, the existence of automated decision-making processes, including profiling, and, if so, meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the significance and envisaged consequences for the data subject, unless it has already been explained in this Policy;
  • Obtain from the controller, without undue delay, the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning him/her;
  • Obtain, in the cases required by law, the erasure of his/her data;
  • Obtain restriction of processing or object to such processing, when so allowed pursuant to law provisions applicable to the specific case;
  • Request, in the cases provided for by law, the portability of the data supplied to the Data Controller, i.e. receive them in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and also request that such data be transmitted to another data controller, if no technical impediments exist;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Supervisory Authority, if appropriate.

For the processing of personal data for which the legal basis is consent, the latter may be withdrawn at any time and, in particular, the User may exercise the right to object to direct marketing if carried out through the Site. To exercise these rights, you may simply reach out to the DPO using the contact details provided at the beginning of this Policy.

Policy governing the use of cookies

Background: What are cookies and what are they for?

Cookies are small text files that the sites visited by users send to their devices, where they are stored and then sent back to the sites themselves.

So-called “third party” cookies are set by a website other than the one the User is visiting. This is due to the fact that on each site there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that are hosted on servers other than that of the site visited.

Cookies are used for different purposes: performing computer authentication, monitoring sessions, storing information on specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, storing preferences, etc.

Mainly, they can be divided into two broad categories: “technical cookies” or “profiling cookies”. Technical cookies are used to perform navigation or to provide a service requested by the User. They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner of the website. Without the use of these cookies, some operations on certain sites may not be performed or would be more complex to perform.

Profiling cookies are used to track the User’s navigation on the web and create profiles on their tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies can be used to send advertising messages to the User's device in line with the preferences already shown by the user when browsing online.

How cookies are used on website

First party cookies used on this Site are “technical cookies” strictly necessary for the Site operation. Their main purpose is to improve the user surfing experience.  They are not used for further purposes and are installed directly by the owner of the website.

Third party advertising cookies

Facebook and YouTube may use useful cookies to share content on social networks or to process access-related statistics. Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. does not use these cookies for profiling purposes.

In addition, the Facebook Pixel cookie is installed. It allows Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. to monitor the conversions occurring on its own website as a result of the advertisements it places on Facebook. For example, if you wish to monitor your subscription to a particular campaign advertised on Facebook, the cookie communicates to Facebook each time a user signs up for a particular campaign on Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. website. Facebook compares the conversion event with the group of people who have been shown the advertisement or who have clicked on it, in order to provide Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. with information that helps it understand the return on investment resulting from its advertising expenditure. Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. does not use this cookie for profiling purposes but only for statistical purposes.

Finally, the Google Adwords/Doubleclick conversion pixel cookie is used by Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. to know which keywords generate the highest number of clicks on Google and conversions into services requested from Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. (e.g. campaign subscriptions). This tool shows what happened after users clicked on its ad in Google, for example if they subscribed to a campaign. Thanks to this information, Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. identifies the most effective keywords for its own activities. Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A. does not use this cookie for profiling purposes but only uses it in an aggregate form for statistical purposes.

Finally, third parties may use this information, including by combining them with other information already available to them for purposes other than purely technical ones (functions or session), subject to the user’s consent.
